Chantale
Chanty (Chantale Richer) is a bachelor of Literature.
As a dancer, a choreographer and a teacher, dance
has always been a fascination for her. Following the
gypsies’ road, she combined various styles such as
oriental dance, tribal, gypsy fusion, flamenco and swing.
From 1999 on, she also explored different styles. She first
discovered swing and the music of the 40s. She has now
been teaching Lindy hop and East Coast swing since 2001
with her spouse.
Chanty discovered oriental dancing in 2000 and this
allowed her to bloom tremendously as a woman. At first
self-taught, she joined the Kali Gadji troupe in 2002,
supervised by Dô (Dominique Favreau) and experienced
a fusion style: gypsy dances and rom from Eastern Europe,
flamenco and India dance styles. Chanty also perfected her
technique by attending workshops with Jalilah, Meissoun, Elizabeth
Artemis Mourat and Laurel Victoria Gray. She continued her training in
flamenco, Argentine tango and is now doing yoga.
She discovered the American tribal style with “Les Trib’elles”, a troupe she
has been part of since its creation. Very soon, fusion became her passion and
this improvised style allowed her a form of bonding with her dance soul mates.
More than a passion, tribal became a philosophy in dance as well as in her whole
life. What joy to live in the present moment while sharing with others the happiness brought upon by dancing together!
Chanty started to teach gypsy fusion dance in 2004 and tribal style in 2005.
In March 2005, just before the birth of her daughter, she published her first novel, the life of a dancer in Ancient Egypt: “Todora, flower of the desert”. |
