UNMATA

UNMATA is a professional, multi-award-winning, bellydance fusion troupe based in Sacramento, CA . Formed in 2003 by Hot Pot Studio’s artistic director Amy Sigil, UNMATA’s current members are Shelly DeCant, Luna Taylor, Casey Staub, and Kari VanderZwaag. The high-energy teamforce of UNMATA is known for extreme choreography, inventive Tribal improvisation, and for tapping into an unmistakable divine inebriation on and off stage. UNMATA’s 2007 agenda includes teaching and performing their distinct “Tough Love” style nationally and internationally, tri-hosting the first annual Tribal Throwdown in March, and producing the Seventh Annual Blood Moon Regale in Sacramento on Halloween weekend. UNMATA holds the 2007 title “Tribal Fusion Group of the Universe.”
Saturday: “UNMATA au naturel” : This multi-level workshop will outline two tribal fusion combinations emphasizing technique and isolation. This workshop will be fun, fast, and furious. UNMATA believes in beat-your-butt technical practice, so bring water and come prepared to sweat.
Sunday: “UNMATA, The Fast & The Furious”: This intense workshop focuses on fast! Amy will lay down the stylistic foundation and technical breakdown for UNMATA’s awe-inspiring omis, ferocious shimmies, and bad-ass body pops. Each movement will include “transition-training” so it can be used alone or linked with other movements to create a short choreography. UNMATA is known for beat-your-butt drilling and technical obsession, so bring lots of water and come prepared to sweat!
BELLYQUEEN
www.bellyqueen.com
Bellyqueen™ Dance Theater is a professional world dance company based in New York city directed by Kaeshi Chai, and co-founded by Amar Gamal. The Bellyqueen dance repertoire encompasses bellydancing in it's traditional "Raks Sharqi" format, as well as Middle-Eastern dance blended with other dance forms such as popping, hip-hop, modern, jazz, ballet, gypsy, flamenco, chinese and afro-haitian. Based on the strength of their unique vision, body of choreographies and performance history, Bellyqueen was the first established bellydance company asked to perform in Las Vegas at Aladdin's Desert Passage for an extended contract. In May 2004, Kaeshi co-founded PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment), with Darshan from Portland. In February 2004 they released their first instructional DVD, "Bellydance Jam" into the mainstream market. It is Amar and Kaeshi's hope that bellydance will some day be elevated to a universally appreciated artform that is shared with audiences of all backgrounds, genders and ages. The Bellyqueen troupe believes in the equality of all races. They sincerely hope that one day, all cultures can live free from discrimination, and in peace with one another, regardless of what color their skin is. Another Bellyqueen goal is to help educate people about the benefits of bellydance and it's healing powers, particularly for body image, self esteem and expression.

LES TRIB’ELLES
www.lestribelles.com
Founded in 2003, “Les Trib'elles” is a bellydance troupe from Montreal, Quebec. We are four friends, four creative minds aiming at exploring and developing their own unique interpretation of Tribal Style, nor ATS nor Tribal Fusion, somewhere in between. We are inspired by the beauty and mystery of the dances of the Middle East, India, Spain, Turkey and the Roma people from around the globe. We are "sisters" in our dance.
Saturday : On the road to India – combos for synchronized group improvisation. This new workshop explore mundras, Indian dance poses, steps and sense of details in order to incorporate it in your tribal dance, improvisation or not. This workshop is only a “touch of india”, it is open to all level and do not constitute an Indian dance class.
