Dominique
Dominique's first love was drama, which she practiced
informally as a child and teenager. In seek for a
wider artistical exploration, Dominique took
her first oriental dance class with Marthyna in
2002 in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, at the age of 15.
First drawn by the mysterious and exotic side
of the danse, Dominique found through it an
unlimited mean of expression, healthy for both
the body, and the mind. So she kept on taking
classes with Marthyna, often to the rhythm of two per
semester, while starting to watch videos and to learn on
her own. In 2004, Dominique starting making a few
replacements at the Centre de conditionnement physique
pour la femme in Brossard, before to teach a full semester
there is 2005. While continuing her formation there, she
began to teach at Marthyna's Orientale Danse School,
where she is still teaching today. Dominique explored
various styles, such as turkish oriental, turkish rom, cabaret,
tribal and fusion. She followed various classes, modern and
jazz danse classes in 2004, yoga classes in 2005, the Bellydance
Superstar Sonia's "Bellynasian" workshop in 2006, the workshops
from Tribally Yours 2007 (Khafif, Zoe Jakes of the BDSS, and Freyja), and African danse classes in 2007 at the UQAM. Today, Dominique has a college degree in languages (English and Spanish) and she is studying specialized translation (from English to French) at the University of Montreal, and she keeps on learning and teaching oriental danse with an ever growing enthusiasm.
