Marthyna
Marthyna (Martine Jetté) is a teacher, a dancer and a
choreographer. She started training in oriental dancing
with Claudette Biron (Alia) in 1997 and was a member of the
oriental dancing troupe "Les roses des sables” for two years.
Marthyna is an oriental dancer who enjoys exploring various avenues.
Studying the multiple facets of oriental dancing through diverse styles
such as Dunyavi, classic Arabic, Turkish rom and oriental, Gawazee,
Tribal and even Sacred, she aims at creating the perfect fusion between
impeccable technique and vibrant emotion.
In 2000, Marthyna began her dancing and teaching career. Afterwards, she
took classes and attended various workshops with Dalia Carella, Elizabeth
Artemis Mourat, Jalilah, Helen Eriksen, Ansuya, Aziza, etc. and started taking
coaching sessions with Eva Cernik in 2006.
It is during her pregnancy that Marthyna discovered a new aspect of oriental
dance: the "birthing dance". After months of research, she produced two
articlesfor the Papyrus magazine, demonstrating the benefits of oriental dancing during
pregnancy and childbirth. In 2001, after the birth of her daughter, she began teaching oriental dancing for
vseveral municipalities and health centers.
Marthyna has been exploring the tribal style since the creation of “Les Trib’elles” in November 2003, when she literally fell in love with this style. Its spontaneous side and the philosophy behind it marked her deeply as soon as she approached it. Within this style of oriental dancing, little known in Quebec, Marthyna uses all her acquired skills, while also learning from her peers. Thanks to the material of tribal troupes such as Fat Chance Belly Dance, Black Sheep, Gypsy Caravan, Ultra Gypsy and The Indigo (Rachel Brice) to name a few, Marthyna learns all the facets of this fickle and dynamic style. For her, the tribal style represents women solidarity, spontaneity, creativity and a true passion for dancing "together".
The opening of her own school in September 2004 was the realization of a childhood dream. |
